flightless birdnow i’m a fat house cat. nursing my sore, blunt tongue. watching the warm poison rats crawl through the wide fence cracks. pissing on magazine photos. those fishing lures thrown in the cold and clean blood of christ mountain stream. At being questioned about her use of the word 'aint', Cassie raised an eyebrow. Oh no. He wasn't one of those uptight, grammar-freaks who went around complaining every time someone said anything that wasn't 'proper', was he? With her luck, he probably was. "Well, yeah, I guess I did. I dunno, that's just how I talk. Does it bother you?"
She felt a bit defensive, but knew she was just being silly. It wasn't like he was one of the guys from high school, who poked fun at her just cause she was from Nashville and it showed through her accent. Isaac had warned her when they first moved to Carmel, that people from California would always make fun of them because making fun of hicks was something Californians thought was funny.
Still, she always got defensive when it came to the way she talked or dressed or anything. She didn't say anything else until they got to the place where his cafe place was supposed to be, frowning slightly. "Darn... Well, I guess we could always just go to Cassidy's. Er, the cafe. Not my..." she stopped herself, clearing her throat and waving him off with one hand.
"Nevermind." Cassie pulled away from the curb again, turning around and making a left turn at the closest street, so she could go to the new cafe. When Greyson asked her where she wanted her music career to go, she bit her lip. "Um... I don't know, actually. I just enjoy singing, and if I can make a living off of it, then bonus, you know what I mean?" She kept her eyes on the road, thinking.
Where did she want to go with her singing career? She knew she wanted a career in singing, in general, but she hadn't thought about how far she wanted to go. Cass smiled at him when he mentioned his sister again, and said that he would try to help her if he could. “You don't gotta promise nothin', Grey. I'm sure i'll find something promising sooner or later.”
Within minutes, they were parked outside of Cassidy's Cafe, and she was already getting out of the car without waiting for Greyson, locking the jeep with the button on her key ring once she figured he was out. She slipped her hand into her back pocket and took out her worn-down leather wallet as she opened the door to the cafe, holding it open for her. She knew it was "custom" for guys to hold doors for women, but she honestly couldn't care less about that "proper" shit. dunno how many words, but this post is for izzi and cassie's wearing this right hurr |

"Nah, I just, by your looks I didn't expect..." He stopped talking thinking maybe how he had just phrased it might have someone how seemed negative in the girl's head. "It's cute." There was a long pause, before he heard her answer his question. Well if she didn't want the help, he wasn't going to try. The cafe hadn't been that far away. Soon he had found himself locked inside the car. At this moment he felt like she was just trying to get this meeting over with. He was probably wrong, but the girl had managed to get out the car fast and lock it just as Greyson had undone his belt.
She must have been a person that just liked getting to the point. He was now just trying to figure her out by that one simple action. He of course new if he unlocked the door and opened it the alarm would go off, so Grey sat there. He put on a smile, shook his head before looking out the side window. His head soon turned to look at his lap for a moment only to return to looking out the window. Cassidy was holding the door open, but had never really looked behind her.
How long till she notices , that was the thought on his mind. He'd just sat there waiting to see if she'd walk back to the car or not.

flightless birdnow i’m a fat house cat. nursing my sore, blunt tongue. watching the warm poison rats crawl through the wide fence cracks. pissing on magazine photos. those fishing lures thrown in the cold and clean blood of christ mountain stream. Cassidy stood holding the door open for about a minute before she finally turned around to see what was keeping Greyson so long; and her eyes widened. "Shit!" She muttered under her breath, clapping a hand over her mouth as she realized her mistake. "Shit shit shit shit shit."
She clicked the button on her key ring several times, before groaning with frustration at the stupid thing and running back to the jeep. She fiddled with the keys for a second, trying to find the right one, and blew her hair out of her eyes as she leaned over slighly to unlock his door. As she opened it she automatically started apologizing.
"I'm sorry, I really am. I thought you would already be out of the car... I guess I move too fast and don't even think about..." Cass sighed, shaking her head. "I'm sorry." Damn, if she kept it up with having to apologize to Grey, her dad wouldn't have any more clients left. Then again... she wouldn't have to listen to him boasting about how incredible of a real estate agent he was, and how many clients he'd had and all that bull crap.
But, she would also have to hear his constant bitching at her because she was the reason he lost his job because she treated one of his clients like shit... even if it was his fault that poor Greyson had been stranded at his daughter's apartment, anyway.
Nevertheless, Cassidy made sure that the man was out of her car first this time before locking her jeep. She blew her hair out of her face as she walked back to the cafe door, and once they were inside, she picked a random booth and walked over to it, remembering to stay close to Greyson, this time.
She slid into her side of the booth and smiled at the waitress as she came over and set their menus in front of them. "Just water for me." She replied when the woman asked what they wanted to drink. Picking up her menu, she scanned the items listed on the lunch section, trying to decide what she wanted. dunno how many words, but this post is for izzi and cassie's wearing this right hurr |
