"i see how it is. you just promise me the world, wait until i show up, and just give me a hipster photograph of it instead, huh?" raising both eyebrows this time in question, she acted as though she was actually expecting him to form up an excuse to explain his actions. in a matter of seconds, however, she was laughing and shaking her head at the idea of oliver's "charm" starting to work on her. luckily, she didn't have to lie through her teeth when she denied something like that. it wasn't his charm that made selene want more of him, it was.. something else. something too intimate, and emotional, for selene to force herself to focus on. "right. and you're just finally starting to notice i've got really kick ass cleavage," she joked back, her emotions clearly displayed on her face.
pursing her lips in thought, selene slowly nodded in agreement to the idea of burgers. "fancy oli burgers." she informed herself out loud with a bit of a smirk. it'd been a really long time since she'd tasted oliver's barbequeing. it wasn't that it was amazing, and outranked every other hamburger that's been cooked on a grill, but he wasn't that bad when he got behind the appliance, she'd openly admit. and it wasn't like oliver cooked for just anyone; selene was pretty sure that he didn't even come close to cooking for a lot of his 'dates', and usually ended up ordering out from somewhere.
after she'd pulled her shirt on, ignoring the fact that she hadn't brought a bra with her in replacement for when she wasn't wearing her bikini, selene pulled the towel from over her head and hung it up as well. shaking her hair back into place, the messy damp strands more wild than her usual hairstyle, she started to push into the villa again, just catching oliver's extremely smooth moves. trying to hold her laugh back, she patted him reassuringly on the shoulder, completely unaware that it had been because of her, and she leaned against the island beside the immediate spot that he'd be using. "you trust my judgement on wine?" selene asked with a bit of surprise, smirking a bit near the end of her question. "i like that arrangement, though. last time i tried to start a barbecue i didn't have eyebrows for almost a month." shaking the more than unpleasant memory from her mind, she pushed off from the island and crossed over to the wine cooler.
the bottles were almost countless in selene's eyes, and it was hard to pull a few out to try and compare them. she, honestly, had no idea where to even begin with wine. she normally drank hard liquor, if it wasn't beer, so anything underneath whiskey and rum weren't really in her field. but she understood the simple basics of wine: the more aged, the better and more expensive the bottle, and you had to let it breathe after opening it. now, for whatever reason as to why you had to let it breathe, she couldn't really remember, but she had a feeling if she mentioned it to oli, he'd educate her. finally deciding on a bottle, one that was more randomly picked than anything, she pulled it from the rack and closed the door to the cooler. coming over to the island where the ingredients were placed, she set the bottle down and started routing around his kitchen's drawers to find a corkscrew.
"i hope i picked a good one," selene called out to oliver outside on the deck, continuing the second half more so to herself in a lower tone. "i kind of feel like getting smashed." |
[/color] she knew she'd have to hold onto her urge until they were done surfing, simply because being drunk and throwing yourself into a dangerous situation to begin with didn't mix at all. that, and selene had already almost had a heart attack the first time oliver went under- if he was drunk and didn't surface as fast as she thought he should, she'd definitely be getting sent to the hospital in the same ambulance. "when's the last time you had wine, anyway?" she asked, opening his fridge to grab out his block of cheese. mindlessly, she broke a decent amount off the tip and put the cheese back, taking a small nibble off one of the ends.[/div] [atrb=style, background-color: 202020;] this seems to be turning into that thread where they get interrupteddd. m'just sayin' (;

i won't run away this time, 'till you show me what this life is for. round and round, i'm not going to let you change my mind, 'till you show me what this life is for. we are afflicted by fiction, building a case for eviction, circling.
for a moment, oliver almost thought sel was serious, but he relaxed when she started laughing. oliver had always enjoyed how easy it was to relax around sel. her laughter was contagious and it was impossible for him to keep the smile off his face, even if he wanted to. "hey, don't make me change my mind about making you food," he smirked. as he walked back into the villa, oliver stopped when he heard the word cleavage. turning on his heel, he slowly walked backwards and didn't even try to hide his stare. "oh wow, now that you mention it, you're right. you do," he turned his gaze back to her face and raised his eyebrow suggestively. oliver grinned and turned back, continuing on into the kitchen. he didn't try to deny the fact that he had noticed before. it wasn't like he could do so with a straight face anyway.
however, now that sel had brought her cleavage up in conversation, oliver was having a harder time than usual trying not to get too distracted. it didn't help that he could tell she wasn't wearing a bra. the cut of her shirt didn't leave much to the imagination either. oliver was having a difficult time trying to focus on making burgers. "don't get your hopes up, i'm hoping for edible oli burgers. it's been a while since i've grilled anything." mostly it was just because he was lazy, but really, oliver only made food when he was trying to impress somebody. his dates usually impressed easily, so he never really cooked. on the other hand, oliver didn't know if he was trying to impress sel. at least, he was telling himself that he wasn't. with his earlier failed attempt at showing off and now that he was cooking for her, it was rather obvious that oliver wanted sel to notice. still, like every other thought with sel, oliver pushed them to the back of his mind.
with a slight smile, he shrugged at her question. "i only have good wine, so i trust that you can't go wrong." oliver started working on making the patties as sel went to get the wine. both of his eyebrows shot up in sudden interest at sel's brief story. he could tell there had to be more behind the story, but he couldn't contain the laughter at the thought of sel without eyebrows. "please tell me there are pictures," he bit his lip, trying to hold back his grin. "i promise i'll work the barbecue and we'll both leave with our eyebrows." while sel looked through the wine cooler, oliver started mixing the ingredients together in a bowl. it didn't take long before he had two patties ready. he washed his hands before heading outside to start the grill. as he waited for it to heat up, oliver took a quick detour to turn on the stereo. in time with the music, oliver slid back into the kitchen and started moving everything outside. by the time he was done, the grill had heated and oliver started grilling both of the patties.
while the meat cooked, he began cutting up a tomato and peeling the lettuce. he turned his head when sel called out to him. "bring it here, let me see." arranging everything needed for a burger on a plate, oliver wiped his hands and walked towards her. once he was back in the kitchen, oliver picked up the bottle of wine and examined it. "not bad, this will go really well with the burgers actually," he grinned at her and took the corkscrew, opening the bottle. "can you grab two glasses from that cabinet there?" he pointed at the one nearest her and set the bottle back down. "if we finish off this bottle, i think we'll be well on our way. we'll have to break out the stronger stuff if you want to get smashed though." with a slight smirk, oliver leaned against the island. "we could eat, surf, get drunk. that sounds like a pretty good day to me."
oliver actually had to think about the last time he'd drank wine. most of the time, he drank hard liquor at his parties. "um...the last time i went on an actual date?" he furrowed his eyebrows. "it's been awhile." he didn't think much more of the question and just shrugged before he turned to go check on the burgers. flipping them over, oliver yelled back at sel, "what do you want on yours?"

"but i like the idea of staying fire-free."
"so i did good?" selene asked with a smirk, not needing an answer to figure that she had from his comment. burgers and wine didn't exactly sound normal, but selene wasn't very used to normal. plus, she didn't mind as long as there was some form of alcohol around. wine, rum, beer, champagne.. just as long as it took an edge off, even if it wasn't her usual choice. "i guess i can do that, since you've vowed to save my eyebrows." turning, she lifted herself up onto her tippy toes in order to properly reach the cupboard he'd pointed at. grabbing two wine glasses, she lowered them down to the counter before closing the doors. turning, she came to rest both of the glasses on the island, giving oli a small smirk. "and night. pretty good day and night." grabbing the wine bottle, she started to pour the liquid into each glass, probably filling them a bit too much to be considered a moderate amount, but she didn't really care.
"seriously? when the hell was that?" arching a brow, selene tried to remember seeing oliver spiffed up, or having mentioned something about a date. it didn't ring any bells, especially since the only way she'd really seen oliver get a piece was through his parties and work. after oliver had walked out onto the deck to check on the burgers, selene had held back to do a small taste test of the wine, and to grab out the condiments they'd need. but at oliver's call, it made her think about cheese. grabbing his cheese slices, selene tucked the package underneath her arm and grabbed the two wine glasses, carrying them out with her onto the deck. setting them down, she crossed the rest of the way to oliver, joining his side. opening the package, she handed him one of the slices. "want one?" she didn't bother waiting for an answer, setting the rest of them down on the bbq's tray so she could finish bringing out the items they'd need to decorate their burgers- it was, after all, the least she could do.
when that was finished, selene joined him on the deck once more, grabbing her glass to take a more familiar mouthful of the liquid. "you know, i feel pretty classy drinking wine on such a big lot," she joked, giving him a playful smirk. "hey!" she stopped suddenly, grabbing his forearm with excitement. "we should throw a party. i could make a liquor run, and go back home to grab my bong. can we? please? pleaaaase?" [atrb=style, background-color: 202020;]this is shoooort. i'm sorry D: forgive me?

there may not have been pictures, but luckily oliver could use his imagination. he was quite good at it too. "if all aliens looked like you, i wouldn't mind an alien invasion," he smirked and gave her another suggestive eyebrow raised. at this point, the more oliver flirted with sel, the more he wanted her. handing the bottle of wine back to her, oliver nodded and gave her a lopsided grin. "yes you did." oliver turned back to check on the hamburgers, leaving sel to pour the wine. with his back turned, it was probably best, seeing that sel couldn't see the idiotic smile when she corrected him. it wasn't anything sel said, but that she implied they weren't just spending the day together. if sel had walked out onto the deck, it would have looked like oliver was way too happy about flipping burgers.
oliver really had to think to remember the last time he had been on a date or anything that could be accepted as a date. he was still thinking when sel brought out all the condiments. "ooh, yes please," he muttered as he took the cheese slice. still in thought, he checked to see how the burgers were coming along. once oliver determined that they were almost done, he placed a slice of cheese on one patty. "i think...maybe a couple years ago? it was something my sister set up for me," oliver sighed and took out another slice of cheese. "actually, now that i mention my sister, last time she visited we had wine. so a few months ago." the burgers needed a couple more minutes and as he waited, oliver got the two plates ready. after that, he took the glass of wine and took a small sip. smiling slightly when sel joined him, he glanced over at her. "that's because it is pretty classy."
just as he was getting ready to take another sip, sel reached out to grab his arm. in his surprise, oliver was lucky he didn't spill wine all over the place. only a small bit managed to escape the glass and land on his hand. switching the wine glass to his other hand, oliver laughed and nodded in agreement. "that sounds like a great plan. i'm low on alcohol anyway. oh. oooh! we can get liquor and then stop by your place. i'll go through my contact list, you go through yours. shit, burgers." in his excitement, oliver had nearly forgotten about his burgers. placing his wine glass down, he leaned forward to check. while they were finishing up, he grabbed two buns and set them on the grill to toast for a little. he grabbed the two plates and with a few practiced movements, oliver had arranged the burgers, leaving the top bun off to the side. "tah-freaking-da," oliver gave an exaggerated bow and a flourish of his hand.
he grinned at his own foolishness and handed one of the plates to sel. the first thing he grabbed was a tomato slice, but oliver had already eaten it before it made it onto his burger. oliver hadn't even finished chewing before he was already spewing more ideas. "hey! we can make a bonfire. i always need someone around, because i have this really bad habit of catching other things on fire," he swallowed his food and picked up his glass of wine. squeezing a good amount of ketchup onto his burger, he held it out to sel. "ketchup?"
