harper was born in london and lived there her whole life. her parents were never the awful kind of parents, they were actually the fantastic kind of parents that made you feel like you had to be perfect. and that was always the hardest part for her because she didn't ever think he was quite good enough to please them. they were fantastic at everything they did, and it seemed like she didn't fit into their life, especially with her attitude. she's a smart ass and isn't afraid to speak her mind, something her mother always tried to squish out of her.
her mother had put her in dance when she was younger, assuming it would be a great extra curricular activity and it would give her some cretive outlet. her mother also hoped that it would give her an outlet for her attitude. maybe if she could work at something, it would make her disciplined or something. yeah, right. it was a passion of hers, and it was the only thing that made her feel like she fit in, but she didn't really play by those rules either. she wasn't skinny like the other dancers, only because she didn't starve herself. ballet wasn't her fit, she preffered doing other types of dancing, since she fit in with those people better.
coming to america is part of her studying abroad. her parents want her to explore other options to major in. although her mother wanted her to dance when harper was younger, she never expected i to turn into a career for her. that wasn't a practical career according to her father. so they were "encouraging" her to take journalism classes while she was in america. and hopefully, that would calm her down a bit, being able to explore (her parents always attempted to come up with outlets like this when she was growing up, much to their disappointment, they never really worked).

tying up her hair in a bow, piper surveyed herself in the mirror of her bedroom. there was no need in dressing up to go out on a date with yourself, so she kept it simple today, jeans and a t-shirt. however, the bow was a necessity. not only was it something she wore with most everything, it was an important tool in keeping her thick hair in order. it had a habit of going every which way, and if piper didn't keep it up meticulously, then it would surely result in chaos. being as content as she possibly could with herself, she grabbed her pink helmet off its normal place on her dresser and headed out to her bike. it was the middle of the day, and neither of her parents were at home. they had respectable jobs they were off doing, so pipe had no one to answer to.
she headed out straight for her bike, a harley that her parents bought for her on her sixteenth birthday. not without a lot of convincing from herself. they thought it would be "too much" for her. pft, yeah right. she knew more about bikes than her brother did, and they thought she couldn't handle it? whatever. she put on her helmet and began to back out of the driveway, then headed to the only place in town that sold the kind of ice cream she liked. her bike rumbled down the street. the whole time, she couldn't help but think about the street bike she planned on buying as soon as she had enough money. sure, the harley was nice, but street bikes were a whole new level, one that she wanted to explore. they were more intense, to her. and she wanted one for herself.
she arrived at the ice cream place a few minutes later. everything here was so close together, it wasn't difficult to get to any place. she parked her bike in a parking spot and made sure the kick stand was securely in place before she took off her helmet and walked inside, securing it between her arm and her hip, not wanting to leave it on the seat. she didn't really get helmet-hair anymore. or rather, you couldn't tell because her hair was always so messed up in the first place. she smiled and asked for two scoops of the ice cream that brought her here. "uhm, birthday cake please. with sprinkles?" she asked with a small smile. the girl behind the counter handed her a cone with two scoops of blue ice cream on top, bright colored sprinkles adding to the fun. piper grinned and handed the girl her money (not without difficulty, as she only had one hand to maneuver with). there was on open seat in the back. actually, most seats were open, but the one in back appealed to her most, so she took it, setting the helmet down in the spot where maybe a person would friends would have their companion sit. her? her helmet, and that was all she really needed.
