» NATIVES.
carmel's natives hold the most history within the small town's streets. these people have been here for their entire lives, and whether they like it or not, they're probably here to stay. they know all about the town's lore, and the juicy details about the family across the street, but that doesn't make them bad people. occasionally, someone escapes from carmel's grasp, but it doesn't happen for too often. a lot of people believe that once you've settled your roots into carmel, there's no way to pluck yourself out of its pot.

» LOCALS.
the locals of carmel, california are the people who've been here for at least ten years of their life. they don't have to have been born in carmel to be a local, but their timespan inside the town has to be quite a bit to be considered one of the herd. their family names and faces are familiar around the town, and a lot of people'll know their regular habits, but no one meddles into other people's business, born on the land or not. they're not as knowledgeable about the town as natives, but they're well on their way, and can offer help to any visitors or tourists without hesitation.

» TOURISTS.
the tourists of carmel are the people from all over the world who've come to see the many different sights it has to offer. some get sucked into staying for all summer, others get roped into buying property and settling down. they're not always easy to pick out amongst the crowds in the heart of carmel, but the few that stick out and seem lost are usually given some sort of sympathy-tour, or guiding hand.

» NEW COMERS.
the new comers of carmel (someone who's only either recently moved to carmel, or who's been around for up to a year) are usually looked at like tourists still, simply because they're not from the land at all. a lot of people more be weary of strange faces, but if they stick around, people'll warm up eventually. just don't expect to get any of the local jokes, or stories, after the first few community barbecues.

» RETURNEES.
lastly, the returnees are exactly what its name suggests: a character who's returned to the small town of carmel, ca. for whatever reason took them away, they returned for something or other. whether they stay or not is another question entirely, considering if something's pulled them away once it could definitely happen again. but the town, if familiar with you before your disappearance, would welcome you back without hesitation. natural curiosity would more than likely surround you until everyone was used to seeing your face again, but what else would you expect from a place this close-knit?
