[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] Golden dreams are all I wanna see It had been a long time ago since Elijah had been able to enjoy weather like this. To be able to step out of the house and have the sun shine him right in his face to the point where he could get a tan if he remained outside for most of the day. He liked that thought. He was far to pale at the end of the day anyway and needed a bit of color on his skin. One could just simply not live in California and be pale. And even if he only had moved into town here a month ago he hadn’t had much of a chance to go outside much besides when he was out walking the dogs. Otherwise Elijah had spent most of his time inside his house and unpacked what seemed like hundreds of boxes of stuff (and it wasn’t far from it, he had fifteen boxes alone on what he had stuffed into his bookshelf) in the house and given it all a place to remain.
But now he was finished, no more need for boxes and cursing and relocating things and pushing furniture around the house. Everything was done and everything had its own place. And now Elijah would just enjoy the pretty weather for the remains of the afternoon. He had gotten up at nine that morning, helped himself to some breakfast and had lounged around in the couch while eating his cereal as the news was on TV. From ten to twelve he had his sacred hours where he had moved up to the bedroom, hid away in the corner where he had put his desk and wrote out to his heart’s content. At twelve, he had a small snack and then gathered up the two Borzoi dogs for the longer walk that they really deserved.
Elijah hadn’t had much of a chance to walk around in Carmel and get to know the small town and still had no clue where what was. He knew where he could get his grocery store and which direction to head if he wanted to travel off to one of the more major cities. But that was just about how far his knowledge stretched. Yet, Elijah wasn’t too worried, a small town was a small town after all and he had grown up in one himself when he still lived in Maine with his parents as a kid and teenager. He knew how things worked in these towns and how fast rumors spread around. It was entirely different from New York where he had spent so many years in until recently when he had realized that living in a big city made him feel miserable and all cooped up. And that was a feeling he was battling away with all his might.
Cain and Abel were both put on their leashes and Elijah headed up north towards Carmel. Elijah followed the road up, and the dogs followed him without any fuss. Approximately after twenty minutes of walking, Elijah reached Carmel and walked through the small city centre before heading into the park where he probably could let Cain and Abel run around a bit without their leashes, they always stuck around him and never approached any strangers or other dogs, quite reserved they were now when he thought about it. Once into Piccadilly Park and onto the grass, Elijah removed the leashes of both dogs and rolled it up while the dogs headed off out on their own little discovery trip in the new area, but yet were careful to remain within fifteen feet of their owner. Elijah started walking again and became thirsty from the warm weather, this certainly wasn’t the weather he was used to, and wondered for a second if California winter weather would be what he saw as summer weather. However Maine had already had quite some warm summers, but none of them had felt like this while they had been equally warm in the news papers. He supposed it had something to do with the area.
Abel drifted off a little bit from their company, Elijah glanced over his shoulder to the dog who was now sniffing some bush and made it easy for himself. He whistled. Abel peaked his ears and looked up, first ahead of himself and then to Elijah before finally pulling the decision to follow his master and his brother. Once caught up with him, Elijah put his hand on the dogs head and ruffled his fur. “Don’t be a drifter where people don’t know you.” Elijah warned, even if the dog probably wouldn’t understand him, but he could at least try talking to the dog. Abel was smart, as was Cain, with a bit of luck they actually did understand him.

Although he hadn't originally been a dog person, Lennox felt himself becoming more and more attached to Teddy. Teddy was the dog his brother had bought for one of his numerous girlfriends. When that particular girl finally saw how much of a douche bag Lennox's older brother actually was, she had left him. Unfortunately she didn't want to keep Teddy who quickly found himself in the clutches of a jock with no patience. Lennox's older brother use to torment the poor puppy, beat on him, and often not feed him for days. Although Len was terrified of his older brother, he couldn't stand by any longer while he tormented the poor whirehaired dachshund. So in the bravest voice he could muster he offered the buy the little fur ball from his brother. His brother had laughed, but agreed and now Lennox found himself to be the proud new owner of Teddy. Lennox had spent most of his savings taking the dog to the vet for shots, getting him the perfect groomer, and even went as far as to sign him up for puppy daycare. But today Lennox decided to take the day off from the shop and just spend it with his new little furry friend.
Len didn't have many friends, and for the most part was okay with that. Not to mention Teddy was proving to be quite the good buddy, he hardly ever talked back, never argued about the plans Lennox had made, and pretty much just thought Len to be amazing, something few people did. Lennox had decided to take his little friend to the park, after all dogs liked to run right? Lennox found a park bench, and began pulling out a couple of Teddy's toys and his sketch book. After all why not let the guy have a little fun, and get a tattoo idea on paper at the same time. Lennox smiled as the puppy ran about happily and in the process tangled them both up in the leash. Len knew better than to let the little guy run without his leash, but the puppy really wanted to go explore. So with a sigh he picked up Teddy, unclipped his leash and placed him back on the ground. The puppy barked happily before running in a circle and then without warning her bolted. Len yelled for him but he continued to run around the park happily. Well until he spotted the two very large dogs off in the distance. "Teddy no!" Lennox yelled pulling himself off the bench and running after the little dog.
Teddy meanwhile had began wildly barking and running around the two large borzois, his happy little barks most likely annoying to the larger dogs. Teddy finally stopped in front of Abel and just looked up at him with excited brown eyes, his tail wagging. Lennox finally managed to get over to the scene, and without saying a word, reached down and scooped up the little monster. "So soor." his words cut off when his eyes landed on Elijah, and instead of speaking he just smiled. "This new puppy thing is incredibly hard, sorry if he irritated your dogs Elijah." Lennox said struggling to hold on to the puppy who was wiggling in his arms. "He isn't that well behaved, as you can see." Lennox said with a laugh, as he attempted to hold the puppy and dig the leash out of is pocket. He managed to snap the leash back on the puppy's collar before he made a flying leap out of his arms. The puppy yelped when it hit the ground, and looked up at Lennox as if he had thrown him. "Teddy, I told you not to jump." Lennox said in a distressed voice as he looked down at the little Dachshund who was now holding his front leg up.
Lennox crouched down to is level, attempting to look at the little puppy's leg. But every time he tried to Teddy would whimper and pull his leg away. "You don't think its broken do you?" he said looking up at Elijah with very worried eyes.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] Golden dreams are all I wanna see The two Borzoi’s weren’t the first dogs that Elijah had owned during his life, though those two were the first ones he had bought with his own money and raised completely on his own. The one he had before that had more been like a family dog, and hadn’t really seen him as his master either, he had just stuck with seeing his father as the master, but didn’t follow him around. What breed it had been, Elijah didn’t know, all he knew was that the dog had been a bastard, a mix of everything. You couldn’t clearly tell which breed was the dominant one in it, one second it looked a bit like a shepherd, the other a bit like a collie. Most of the time Elijah found him to look mostly like a border collie. The dog, named Patch, had been a wonderful family dog, didn’t make any noise until a car drove up on the driveway to alert his owners of when they had shown up. And even if Patch mostly did whatever he felt like, there were still some things the dog would only do with certain people. On the mornings he had always followed Elijah to the school-bus, during the day he had kept his mother company when she was out gardening and on the evening the dog would lay down next to his father when he was reading whatever book he had taken for that evening.
Patch had been a whole lot more noisy then Cain and Abel had ever been together though. For the longest time Elijah had been unsure that the dogs could bark. They didn’t even bark when they were paying which struck him as an incredible odd thing. They had barked however when they had seen their first squirrel however, and that made them bark like mad, and also have hem try to climb up a tree which didn’t go that well for the two puppies. But Elijah had enjoyed watching them for a couple of minutes before he had returned to writing. But now? Now Cain and Abel were two of the calmest dogs that he had ever seen or met at some random occasion. Unlike the small puppy that was now running straight towards them all in excitement when it had spotted his own two, who had given up on sniffing around and looked at the newest addition to their company. Cain shifted away directly and glanced up to Elijah while he was moving backwards, then turned around and focused on another bush. Abel on the other hand remained put where he was and peaked his ears the slightest, looking down onto the happy bouncing pup right in front of him.
Abel leaned a little bit closer and sniffed at the puppy, obviously the one less bothered by the puppy then Cain was. Cain had always been the one who was a little bit more jumpy around puppies, almost as if he saw them as Elijah saw kids. Just annoying, screaming and a big handful. Elijah knew of himself that he probably wouldn’t turn out with kids in a couple of years; he had never wanted them and had never liked them either. He had even broken up with boyfriends once he realized that they had kids, he didn’t sign up for that and he never wanted to do either. Yet ironically, in a lot of ways a puppy was like having a child, but he could consider himself to have a bunch of puppies on the other hand. He glanced up from the puppy to the owner as he approached and was surprised to see that it was Lennox, when did he get a puppy? And how come he hadn’t been told that? “It’s not like commercials make it seem is it? All fun and games, tiresome, why didn’t you tell me?” Elijah asked and winked to Lennox before looking back to the puppy again. “They were fine, if they didn’t like it they would have told him off, what’s his name? Is it Teddy?” Elijah said, taking the liberty of scratching the puppy behind his ear. “And he’s a puppy, can’t expect him to be all that well behaved yet, it comes with age.” Just as he had finished that sentence, the puppy jumped out of Lennox’s embrace and fell down onto the ground.
He shook his head as a reply to the question, even if the puppy was holding its front leg up, he didn’t really think that there would be that much of a problem with it. “Nah, puppies are sturdy, they can take a lot. But if he’s still limping by tomorrow or in pain, then you should see a vet.”
